The Apple Special Event Live Blog (Starts at 1AM SGT)

Anything prior? (By the time I started watching, the speaker was onstage talking about the new Apple Arcade section of the App Store.)

Arcade

Apple Arcade games (i.e., Frogger, Sayonara Wild Hearts) look really great, in particular, Sayonara Wild Hearts with its psychedelic art style.

Apple Arcade will be a paid subscription service launching September 19 for $4.99 USD, and there’ll be a one month free trial.

TV+

Worldwide premier trailer for SEE.

Apple TV+ will be a paid subscription service launching November 1 for $4.99 USD (including SEE), with a year-long subscription free with any new device purchases.

iPad

Greg onstage. The next generation iPad (2019) has a larger screen (10.2" screen), support for Apple Pencil, the Smart Connector, and iPadOS – which has yet to launch. Presumably it’ll make the switch to USB too.

Watch

Stan onstage to introduce the next generation Apple Watch (Series 5) with an Always-On Retina Display, wow!

Compass: it doesn’t look like anything.

Safety: Every cellular model will now be able to call emergency services – international – with a button press.

Also, new materials: aluminium is now 100% recycled – just like its newer macOS products, and there’s also titanium and ceramic.

Nike+?

Hermes?

Pricing: $399 USD for GPS models, $499 for the cellular option, and presumably more for titanium/ceramic.

Series 3’s price reduction, starts from $199 USD. Presumably, Series 4 (i.e., my watch) rendered obsolete.

iPhone

“iPhone 11”, the new generation with 6 new colours.

6.1" Liquid Retina – unchanged from 10R?

Dual-camera system: wide/ultra wide cameras, great for landscapes and closeups too.

Night mode always-on.

Various improvements geared towards video capture.

Wide angle for the front camera too – rotate to have get more people in-frame.

New SoC, the A13 Bionic.

iPhone 11, from $699 USD.

iPhone (Pro)

“iPhone 11 Pro”, new design?

Stainless steel (vs. aluminum) with a matte finish, 4 colours.

5.8" or 6.5" displays; i.e., Super Retina XDR.

Meaningful battery life improvements, 4, or is it 5 hours more..?

Triple-camera system, additional telephoto lens.

Computation photography, named “Deep Fusion”. Will be made available as a software update later this year.

Segment about ML/power efficiency.

Starting at $999/$1099 USD.

Retail

Fifth Avenue store relaunches September 22.
